Saturday, May 16. 2009URTX 26640 Update May 13, 2009Much of the Freight Department efforts focused on inspecting the various cars scheduled to be operated in freight demonstration service later in the year, and the weather did not cooperate much for more outdoor work on this project. Saturday, May 16. 2009Annual Inspections Chicago Surface Lines 3142 You may have already seen more on this on other websites, but not to be outdone, here is an entry from us. Stan Wdowikowski works on the annual inspection and others pitched in throughout the day including Project Manager Frank Sirinek and Randy Hicks. Each service car must pass a fairly thorough inspection and checklist before it enters service each year. This only makes sense from a safety standpoint as well as maintaining the car and catching problems before they become major items. Saturday, May 16. 2009Milwaukee Streetcar 972 Update May 13, 2009 Side Gets Finish Paint Pete Galayda is applying the second coat of orange to the south side of this car. A BIG improvement and visible progress!  North Side Meanwhile on the north side, Gerry Dettloff works on the treadle door wells while John Faulhaber starts applying orange to the letterboard. Saturday, May 16. 2009Woodshop Update May 13, 2009Project work continues aplenty in the woodshop including restoration of two wood door leafs for the TM 972, roof parts for the ME 28, new windows for the B&M 1094, machine and tool restoration, parts for roof repairs for IT 277, window work for NS 757, and others! Saturday, May 16. 2009UP 25086 Update May 13, 2009 Interior Trim The fellows on this project have worked throughout the winter, sometimes at a reduced level due to weather conditions. The interior of the caboose is being trimmed out with moldings, some of which have to be custom sourced to match existing.  Interior Painting Lee Regione is priming completed trim areas in preparation for the interior repaint in finished color.  Lettering Begins Bill Leider is at it again! Here he is starting the layout and pattern work on the outside of the caboose, which was finish painted last fall. |
