Project work continues aplenty in the woodshop including restoration of two wood door leafs for the TM 972, roof parts for the ME 28, new windows for the B&M 1094, machine and tool restoration, parts for roof repairs for IT 277, window work for NS 757, and others!
But for your viewing pleasure here is a picture of Tim Peters and his homemade rolling scaffold, platform and light show. He is shown here applying the finished orange on the north side of CRT 1268.
The fellows on this project have worked throughout the winter, sometimes at a reduced level due to weather conditions. The interior of the caboose is being trimmed out with moldings, some of which have to be custom sourced to match existing.
Lee Regione is priming completed trim areas in preparation for the interior repaint in finished color.
Bill Leider is at it again! Here he is starting the layout and pattern work on the outside of the caboose, which was finish painted last fall.
I am still posting progress on this project in the Woodshop category since so far there is not a specific blog of its own, and a lot of the work has been done in the shop. Here is the current south side as Tim Peters continues to labor on repainting. A lot of the famous CRT orange has been applied to the letterboard and window sill area.

More siding that was deteriorated has been removed as the crew works east toward the door on the north side of the car.
Siding behind the removed ladder was saved and has been scraped and primed.
An overall view showing progress on the west half of the north side, the current area of focus for this restoration.

A controller cover for this loco nears completion in our restoration shop, this one having the cleaned wood coated with clear varnish on the outside.
Stan Wdowikowski working in the great outdoors, pays some attention to cleaning and priming more of the car body areas.

I thought I would add a category for this project, especially since so much work has been done and continues to be done. Maybe others will post some pics and comments to give us a review of recent work.
BUT - - in spring a young man's fancy turns to - PAINT! Here Charlie Strong is making good progress removing the old deteriorated paint from one side of the 749. Sad in a way since it was last applied by the North Shore Line over 40 years ago, and most of the rest of this car has seen restoration and refinishing work. Part of the original is consigned to dust and a new day coming!

I was not around at the time. General discussion suggests that it was "pretty marginal" in a number of areas. Nigel
