We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you some of the behind the scenes action in preparing these BLOG entries. Actually a production crew was on the campus with lighting, cameras, props, actors, caterers, etc to film an upcoming commercial for the Belk Department Stores - found in the southeast of the US. Probably over 40 people needed to make this relatively simple product. Here, they had taken over the depot platform, using the C&NW bilevels as backgorund and part of the scene.
Welcome back to Rich Witt, who was recently a 'victim' in a vehicle accident. He got banged up a bit, and is still pretty tender and limited in activity. But it was good to see him stop in. He has brought out some new tools for shop use, and John Faulhaber helps examine the plunder.
Most of you have followed along as a new lean-to shop addition was added to the southwest corner of Barn 4. Here, a B&G crew of three prepare the earth for a new concrete apron and pad, which could be poured later this week. Dave Diamond has the transit set up and is checking elevations.
There was some good news as the Dover Strait was able to be moved outdoors for more work.
Gene Machowiak is visible in this picture if you look closely. He is working on the underbody gear, needle chipping and preparing for fresh paint and primer. This has been on their TO DO list for some weeks, but weather does not always cooperate, and a locomotive and crew are needed to pull the car out of Barn 3 and return it at night.
We caught Bob Hunter on the north side, fussing with some wire and cabling, to get it back in place before Gene moves to this side.

So far, the promise of donated paint for the project remains unfulfilled. So as colder weather approaches, Henry Vincent and John Faulhaber moved the car back to Track 40, and shortly it will again move to the south yards for winter storage.
Very frustrating to have basically lost this year's warm weather for painting but some things are out of our control.

I was not around at the time. General discussion suggests that it was "pretty marginal" in a number of areas. Nigel
