for those that browse here but not on the IRMlist
the car, as reported elsewhere is on the turntable lead
it will be on a flat car for a while as we await the arrival of the other cars, and then we will bring cranes to do all three cars at once.
Nick is off to the west coast later this week, during which trip he plans to go to Denver and expedite the movement of the baggage car.
In addition, we need to get Olympus home, as that is the wheelset we will use under Silver Pony
Now for the update of the weekend.
First, a lot of thanks to all the folks that helped get it in to the museum Saturday, Tom and Frank from Track, Jamie driving, Danny lifting wire, several others I am sure.
Thank you all for the assist.
Next.
The car has made progress in its preparation.
The one window that was completely out of the car has been reinstalled.
Yes its broken, but its there and will keep critters and weather out of the car.
Next I have gotten the car to “wake up”’ as well. ‘
The electrical system appear to be in reasonably good shape, and by nightfall, the interior incandescent lights were on, so a few of our friends could get a first good look at the car.
With one more long day, I think I can get the flourescent l;ights on too.
The car is similar in design to Silver ridge, so I pretty much knew what diagnostics I needed to do, and then power up the car.
Third,
please everyone remember that the car will still need a lot of donors.
Every window in the car is broken. and I think $300-350 each is what it will take to fix.
Not to mention the one curved dome piece, which others have said will be $1000 or so for one frame.
Fourth, for our local volunteers and close supporters
I will be at IRM next Saturday, so folks can come see the car, but NOT next Sunday, as I have to work.
Finally for tonight.
I was naughty and could not get my camera to cooperate, so I don’t have any new pictures.
I hope to solve that problem Wednesday,

I was not around at the time. General discussion suggests that it was "pretty marginal" in a number of areas. Nigel
