Thursday, July 14. 2011Steam Pics - July 13, 2011Here is a quick followup to the Steam News post of July 9, 2011  Smokebox Front Simon Harrison looks at the smokebox front from of the Frisco 1630 decapod. Note that the hinged smokebox door was removed first, and then the large steel front plate removed.  Frisco 1630 Here is the old girl getting ready for the next steps. Being backlit it is hard to see inside, but the smokestack petticoat is the next big item to come out of that gaping hole.  Shay In the shop we noted this view of our Shay. A custom fabricated beam has been bolted to the front of the locomotive frame. This will allow high capacity jacks to lift the frame and boiler, to provide clearance to remove the front truck assembly for repairs. |
