Tim Peters has installed new canvas roofs on both hip portions on the CRT 1797. Here he is up on the scaffold applying the first coat of gray canvas paint. He has roof ventilators that look like NEW. In fact they are the originals, but which were sent out to be cleaned, acid etched, and hot dipped galvanized. They LOOK LIKE NEW! This was possible due to a very generous donation from AZZ Galvanizing. Tim has applied primer and gray finish paint to those.
Other work in the shops included Rich Witt continuing window restoration for the CA&E 36 with John Faulhaber making some tiny cross section beading strips to replace broken ones. John continues to work on the Milwaukee Electric D 13 dump motor. Frank Sirinek and Mike Alterio are making new fenders or people catchers for the Chicago and West Towns 141. This is another of those parts that must be scratchbuilt completely new, working from photos and old drawings. The pieces are finally taking shape and recognizable.

I was not around at the time. General discussion suggests that it was "pretty marginal" in a number of areas. Nigel
