Pete Galayda quietly goes about trimming out and adding all the 'good stuff' to complete the paint job on this car. He has been replacing many of the signs, lights, etc on the ends, for example. Here, the sign from the Safety Commission has been restored and placed, as it was.

Pete Galayda continues to work on this historic car. Here he is in the shop working to repair and make whole the illuminated signs for the car ends. Missing parts - broken parts - you get the idea.

How did he do that? We arrived last Wednesday and the last of the hand painted lettering was done! Pete Galayda must been sneaking out to work on the car when no one was looking. But the car body is now nearly done and looking better than it has for the last FIFTY YEARS. Good work Pete, and the hard working crew of helpers.

On Saturday Buzz Morissette was laying out the last remaining major elements in getting the painted car lettered. And the finished results on the east end speak for themselves. This project is a good example what can be accomplished by perhaps a dozen members participating when and where they can.

It just keeps getting better and better! Pete Galayda is finishing up some handpainted lettering on the north side of this car.

Here is some of the layout work in place to hand paint more of the lettering on this car. As when in service in Milwaukee, decals were used for the herald and numbers, and other lettering was hand painted. Here is the bright and sparkling east end with the last coat of paint having been applied on November 10. This substantially completes the painting on this car body, with the exception of some detailing and trim items. Headlight and stop light housings, ad boxes, etc.

The following two images win the award for the WOW FACTOR this week!! Most of you have been following this project and seen the endless hours of preparing and painting the car. The correct style and arrangement of the herald was applied to the car by Buzz Morissette. Buzz also supplied and applied the numbers. One can hardly believe the impact of these touches to a glistening, freshly painted car.
