I'm curious why this year the WWII reenactment event was separated from Memorial Day weekend. It seems to me that it made more sense to combine them on Memorial Day weekend as has been done in previous years. Any info as to why would be appreciated. REPLY: Here is the answer posted elsewhere on the web by IRM volunteer Phil Stepek, who is much more involved and knowledgeable than I, on the event planning and execution. "The event was moved in deference to the re enactors, as many of them have long time committments to their home communities for Memorial Day parades and events. The weekend chosen was because it is Armed Forces Day on Saturday, and therefore also has a logical connection."
