Nigel, Looks like the Frisco is getting very close to operation! Hopefully before the end of the year you'll be able to put a fire in her belly once again and make some noise! I just wish that I was there to help with the restoration efforts and activities around the shop. I remember when I was just a little kid in the summer of '04 and I went out for the day to the museum. I rode in one of the old Lackawanna coaches while smoke from the Frisco poured in. She was popping off quite a bit, if I recall correctly. Little did I know that this was the last time she would ride the rails.I hope that I will be able to relive this memory soon! Liam

Have all the axle boxes taken off of 428 so far been in roughly about the same condition or some in better shape then others?

There is some variation between individual boxes but not a lot and nothing that would suggest that some have. for example, been renewed. Nigel

This comment is directed toward someone in the diesel department. Is Milwaukee Road 1603(ALCO 660)operational? I haven't seen it in the last few Diesel Day parades.
