maybe if you could build a longer main line you could use these spans as the bridge it save a little money I think

what is the planned ultimate use of these spans?

A long range plan is to use these three spans in some combination to cross what we call BOOT CREEK, (officially something like the south branch of the south branch of the Kishwaukee River). They would go east from the current 90 degree diamond at South Junction and provide improved access for Barn 11 and open the possibility of building Yard 12. We do own some of that right of way on the east side of the creek.

Are the spans in good enough shape to be used for extending the mainline track?

We are a long way away from considering that question. These were never intended or originally designed for heavy mainline locomotives. Likely they are far too short for what would be needed to cross the Kishwaukee at our east end. Bob Kutella
