once Dover Straight comes around for operating this year, will potential work also come to another car? body work on GTW 5316, or starting work on another lounge sleeper? (Villa falls, floyd river, etc.)
Hello Raphael Once the Dover is in service, our attention will be turning to the many started but unfinished projects in our department. Paul wants to keep the "fleet' looking better as well as upgrading the maintenance/inspections. For many years there are a number of cars o/s. Those cars you mentioned all are major, major restoration jobs. AKA needs more than $100,000 each to start, plus a large number of skilled volunteers. Unfortunately, we have neither. While I by no means speak for the department as a whole, I see work progressing on getting Inglehome back in service, along with continued work on the Lack 556, Rock 2555 and 2612, with other work on the Santa Fe combine, Santa Fe lounge, and the John M. GTW 5316, Villa Falls, and Floyd River are all far from operational.

Raphael: My question to you is, "When have you last been to IRM? The museum is constantly in a state equipment restoration. What you don't see is the volunteers also maintaining those operation pieces. Before anyone can ride safety there are countless hours of labor inspecting and fixing these pieces. Have you ever heard of the FRA? We run under those museum guidelines and standards. Before you complain about the next restoration you best think about what the dedicated volunteers of all volunteer rr museums go through too provide you with a safe ride. These machines are not model trains and can bite very hard when not taken care of. Roger Kramer
so, your saying that after the Dover, attention would be focused on more storage buildings, inspect in-service equipment, obtain new locomotives/rolling stock, etc?
In my humble opinion, more storage is always a good idea. (Anyone know what the schedule is for building the two new barns???)
Beyond that, I think that Roger and Brian (who know a lot more about it that I do) are saying yes, the top priority will be on repairs to out-of-service cars, then on finishing projects in progress, and of course also on bringing home cars the museum owns but haven't yet come to the property. (What's it going to take to get Silver Bear up here? It's not that far away. I might even be able to help with the move, if I'm not gone more than a night or two.)
However, I bet that if you donated $150,000 to the fund of your favorite car, they would get started on it right away!

Hello Kirk I would like to complete the restoration of the last two bedrooms but it will take a lot of effort and volunteer hours to do so. The carpeting is another matter of discussion. The floor is very uneven and will take a contractor who sands and grinds cement to even think about carpet. Right now just getting in limit service is the goal. Showing the public its potential is first necessary in asking for more funds to done the work. Roger
