If the time and money is spent will it run again?

What ever happened to the TP&W RS-11? Is it being cosmetically restored? Is it in storage?
#1.1.1 Matt Maloy on 2016-08-23 15:04
It is in a Barn
#1.1.1.1 Colton V on 2016-08-24 14:23
TP&W 400 was moved inside a barn earlier this year, however it's a barn that is not open to the public yet.

This is fantastic! Between this and the E-33, you guys area having a banner year! As a NH fan, the E-33 news was one of the highlights of my year, but as a diesel historian, THIS is one of the great stories of the years, along with the purchase and start-up of the former DLW/RELCO/Behr HH660 by NIWX. I'm praying you guys will get that HH after John Howell is done with it. But in the meantime, congratulations and kudos on saving B-71, an engine I have wanted to visit for 45 years! Now I will get the chance. The only thing you guys could do to make me love your outfit any more would be to get MNS 21 running! The only Baldwin centercab left in the world deserves to run once in a while.

I have seen footage of MN&S 21 running at IRM. It was running for a while in the 80s and early 90s, but it's not running anymore.(mechanical issues?)

I believe one of these was sitting in southern lower michigan in the Tecumseh area. When I went there to photograph it, the railroad said they got rid of it the month before.

Roger, don't forget ARMCO E-110 in our collection!

The passenger car department should be praised for restoration of the three cars which were restored and brought into service looking wonderful over the past couple of years. Further they have brought the Sante Fe combine back not service. Please thank all of hose that have worked so hard to achieve this outcome.

Hi Kirk Thanks, Kirk for your kind comments. Still much to do one the fleet. Hopefully, the last RI coach will be in service next year! Thanks Roger

The locomotive I was thinking of was the Lima-Hamilton 1200hp switcher, ARMCO E-110.
#5 Tim F on 2016-08-21 12:38
Yes , I forgot this one Ops Thanks Roger

Nice to have this rare oddity in the IRM collection, however that has to be the ugliest locomotive on the property.
#6 MRZ on 2016-08-22 12:16
Hello MRZ You are right but remember" form follows function" It looked good in the early 1930's Roger
#6.1 Roger Kramer on 2016-08-22 17:14
Roger, Congratulations on adding the new B-71 diesel locomotive to the IRM collection. It looks cool. Look forward to seeing it at IRM. Sincerely, Ethan
#7 Ethan on 2016-08-22 19:42
Congrats on the new acquistition. I'm sure the wonderful team at IRM will make this engine come back to life and be as beautiful as it rolled out the first time
#8 James on 2016-08-26 20:16
will you guys be getting the 2-8-8-4 back or is it staying there?
#9 Dillon goble on 2016-08-28 13:27
I didn't know IRM had a Yellowstone?
#9.1 Raphael on 2016-08-31 22:18
That's because IRM doesn't have one.
#9.1.1 CLHogger on 2016-09-20 16:16
The N&W 2-8-8-2 is inside Barn 9, as it has been for many years.
#9.2 David S on 2016-09-02 10:43
Great work on saving another historically significant locomotive! What is the status on RS1 GTW 1951?
#10 Nicholas Katz on 2016-08-29 13:21
It's parked inside a barn, and not currently being worked on. It needs some electrical work and crank bearing work done at a minimum.
#10.1 Jeron Glander on 2016-09-01 21:57
Don't forget Armco B-70, the last Baldwin box cab now in doors at the SE RR Museum in Duluth, GA. I suspect it may be available along with the 2 St Louis "New Look" TCs. Looking forward to Showcase weekend. Will any of the "Closed" Barns be available to members? Bill McCoy Warrington, PA
#11 Bill McCoy on 2016-08-31 08:24
Just curious... is anyone planning on updating the online roster to reflect this and other great additions? The last update was made in 2009, which means it doesn't reflect the ATSF FM switcher, the UP B40-8, CNW RSD, or this new ugly duckling.
#12 Eric Olesen on 2016-10-03 07:49
I know its not mentioned here but this diesel was unloaded by using IRM's CNW 6363 160T wrecker and also the CNWX 40T Ohio crane on Labor day Monday. This was done with all IRM volunteers doing the work.
#13 Andy Chmura on 2016-12-04 20:17
Hi Andy I know, you guys did an excellent job of unloading the diesel as well as the turn table! No other museum could accomplish what you fellas did. Many Thanks to you, Mark S, and Dan F. Roger
