when i was at the anzio express, may 29 i noticed the shay is starting to come together and a lot of work on the 1630s wheel set. i noticed they where using a little air hose for blowing of dust. so will you guys reasemble the part on the axle and have 1630 over the drop table by the end of the summer? because they made LOTS of progress

I understand the guys in the Steam Shop have set a target FOR THEMSELVES to have the wheels back in the 1630 and hope for test firing the locomotive on August 7!! WOW! Of course that does not mean nothing needing attention will be found and engine will run for the public August 8. But substantial progress if they can pull this off. Bob Kutella

Bob, I want to see the steam operations up and running as much as anybody else, but I am very pessemitic that we will see steam on the mainline during the 2010 season.

I did say that was the target date set by the steam shop and that was for a TEST FIRING. If time runs short, that probably means the boiler lagging and jacketing will not be complete, unfinished paintwork, etc. But a big milestone and an aggressive schedule. Let's support their efforts. Bob Kutella
