No, you won't be dismantling and recycling old railway equipment, you'll be building one! As one of the first 100 paying adults per day, you will have the oppurtunity to make your very own scrapbook page. Just add your own pictures and you have a great memento of your day at the museum.
Celebrate Mother's Day at IRM - all moms admitted free when accompanied by at least one fare-paying child or adult.
Boy and Girl Scout troops participate in a day-long event; including a flag ceremony, awarding of badges and touring the Museum.
See realistic WWII environments created by WWII Reenactment groups. Visit the camps, see the vehicles and talk to the soldiers. Ride The Anzio Express, USO Dance Saturday Night. Diesel and electric trains will be operating. Enjoy the West End Jazz Band on Monday.
Operations and Demonstrations of Railway Post Office railway cars with on-the-fly mail pickups. See how railroads played a major role in the handling of the U.S. Mail.
Commemorating the last day of streetcar service in Chicago 52 years ago. The past lives on as you ride Chicago streetcars, trolley coaches, "L" trains, and interurban and commuter trains that served Chicago.
Free admission for all dads when accompanied by at least one fare-paying child or adult.
Celebrate a unique Independence Day by joining us for IRM's annual parade of electrically powered streetcars, "L" cars, interurban equipment, and work cars. Great photo oppurtunities. Ride the diesel and electric mainline trains as well! Enjoy live music before and after the Trolley Pageant as the West End Jazz Band entertains.
Vintage diesels will pass in review at the depot. Take a ride on a coach train and a caboose train pulled by one of these powerful giants. Many great photo opportunities for the diesel fan!
The past comes alive through the display of antique autos, trucks, fire engines, tractors, motorcycles and buses-hundreds of vehicles assemble throughout the Museum campus. Ride the streetcars to the various display areas. Interurbans and diesel coach trains will be running on the mainline! "Music at the Museum"--the West End Jazz Band will entertain. (This event only: Call 815-923-4391 for information about displaying your vintage vehicle.)

Embark on a magical train ride and visit with Santa Claus and his elves at the Toy Workshop! Children on Santa's "Good" list will recieve a gift. Special Fare Event. No passes honored on these days. Holiday event only, museum grounds and buildings are not open on these days.
