Our new interior painting program is well on its way for a first part conclusion. In the previous blog I showed you part of the painted hallway leading into the lounge. Well, that is now coated with new paint. Thanks to Sandi, John, Bill, Dale and Bob for removing the old layers of paint and prepping them for primer and top coat. As this was wrapping up we began our another phase by stripping old paint in the entrance hallway leading from the back door past the women's bathroom and into the section area. This is now completely stripped and awaiting sanding. If you would like to help on this project the members meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We can always used more help! Remember our plan is to use the Mt Harvard on Museum Show Case Weekend, 2019! Thanks Roger

Now to Part 3. This year the big project for Howard Gierer is the painting of one of our two new Milwaukee Road coaches acquired last year. We hope to use both of them this year on our Happy Holiday Train in late November and early December of this year! Next time Howard was out to the museum he turned his attention to the other side of the coach.
So far Howards team has painted both sides below the windows of the 649. The more difficult job remains. Working on a scaffold prepping above the widows. Want to help? Please come out on any Wednesday or Thursday. We be happy to show you around barn 10. Thanks Roger

Not to be out done the John Mcloughlin also has seen its share of new progress. For this we have to thank Mark Hoffmann, Howard and Mary Gierer, and Bob Olson for all their efforts. Work is now focusing on the hallway and the men's bathroom. This type of paint restoration is very tedious and takes a while to remove the old paint, sand and then prime. With a few more volunteers we could get the entire area primed and painted by this fall. Regardless, you will read about our progress.
This is a brief summary of the John McLoughlin project to date. We have a variety of activities related to this sleeper that require various skills and talents such as painting, carpentry, metal work and sandblasting of parts. All can be accomplished by you the volunteers. Please come out and visit us in the coach and freight car shop of barn 10. Thanks Roger Kramer

7009 number boards look good. Is there a way to turn a locomotive around at IRM? In case you ever had a mind to connect 7009 and 6847?
