Seeing you posted a picture of the Nebraska Zephyr, I have a quick question about the upcoming Excursion. When do you plan to perform the deadhead move prior to and after the Excursion? I live in Elgin, IL and know that the Belvidere Sub of the UP Line runs right through Elgin. Knowing that is the line that connects the Museum to the outside world, it would be the logical choice for the move from Union, IL to Chicago.
I would love to find a place along that line and photograph the Zephyr as it is being moved.
So, if you happen to know when those moves would take place, that would be great.
I do want to apologize for posting this as a comment in the CGW X38 Update blog, but I have searched the IRM webpage, and did not find another way to submit a question in regards to this.
Thanks,

As you note, I am probably not the guy to try to answer this. If I had to guess it would move in non rush periods down to the coach yard to rest overnight. I doubt it could or would be spotted directly in CUS until just before boarding time.
