i'm curious here. Will 1630 ever wear the ATSF 6 chime she had on for a while? Better defines her, I love the deep whistle she has now but the higher pitched 6 chime was better in my opinion.
You are talking here about something well before my time !. I have not seen her with anything other than the whistle she now carries.
If she carried this whistle at IRM I have no idea why it was changed and where it now is but might try to find out for my own interest !

The whistle 1630 wore for a while that you're thinking of was a Frisco 6 chime donated by a former member of the steam shop. It was on it a few times over the years, the last time being put on by me a couple of years before it went out of service.
Hi, I have a question, if or when she is restored and back up and running this or next year. Will their be a special event set up for the return of steam to IRM? I would love to attend 1630's first day back in service since 2004 (The year I last saw her run). Are their any plans for such an event?
Matthew,
Any special event is the decision of the museum Board. My personal opinion is that it is likely that there would be a special event to celebrate the return of steam to service at IRM.
I would certainly not expect this to be the first time that she is "out and about". Give the length of time out and the amount of work done, I would expect a significant number of "debugging" and training days before it would be sensible to organize an event around it !.
