Yes, the retired members are trying to get a small group together for Weds. I would first suggest you come out on a Sat and coordinate your wed trip with those interested in wed work days. Roger
The interior of the 938 has been inspected in late Sept. All boiler tubes and any debris found in the smokebox has been removed. The firebox has also been cleaned and the fire brick removed. So far the engine has possibilities for restoration. We are now looking for boiler drawings from Lake States in Wi for further information. Please send donations to the 938 fund. Thanks Roger
unrelated topic: isn't there still a steam locomotive in Galt? i was thinking you could do some minor maintenance on the engine (with donations) and put it up for auction. unless its already somewhere.
Hello,
The tender was brought to IRM last year. It is a former Kansas City Southern tender used by scrapped 2-8-8-0 no. 759. It was used as an auxiliary tender for the 0-8-0's used in Sterling. That was the last remaining piece of rolling stock at Galt that I'm aware of. Any of the remaining engines that were there have either been preserved or scrapped.
Guys, I'm not entirely sure if that's true or not. If found this photo, it was taken in 2014, so it's probably still there.

Could somebody PLE-E-E-E-EASE tell me what exactly what the story is behind this engine. I've heard two stories. One of them was the IRM purchased it, but somebody who works here denied this. The other story is that somebody privately owns it. Does somebody know for sure what the story with this engine?
