Hello Richard Thank you for the kind remarks. When the"Harvard' arrives this summer it will need a complete cleaning and installation of many parts but it will be usable. Would you like to be informed when the work detail begins? Just watch for info on the blog. Thanks Roger Kramer
No problem Roger however, due to my work life I doubt I would be able to come out to the museum until August. I will however, write it into my calender as a personal reminder. Congratulations and good work on everything that you do for the museum Roger
Richard Penn.
Hi Richard Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I hope by August enough donations will be available to ship the Mt. Harvard to the museum. I also look forward to riding in it! Roger
Folks,
Are the Rock Island commuter cars steam heated? Can they be used with the Canadian National heater car that the museum is going to get?
Ted Miles
Hello Ted The RI coaches were steam heated but have never been tested or used at Irm. The CN heater car was acquired to be used w/ any coach that could be "heated" at Irm. Needless-to -say it will take a lot of work and $ to get to that capability but at least we have that opportunity. Roger
The CRIP coaches are steam heated, as are the DL&W coaches. Almost all of our operating fleet is steam heated; however most likely all the steam lines will need work to actually hold steam.
Roger,
Can you jog the people in the Electric Car Department to write something for this blog? It has been over a year since any up date.
Thanks,
Ted Miles
Hello Ted As you can see most of the Electric car folks do not blog on the site. I would suggest you look at Randy Hicks blog for most updates concerning electrics. He does a very good job of updating every week. Roger
Ted, I would suggest you look over some of the coach department updates Pauline has posted, I usually include whatever was going on in Barn 4 and elsewhere on the property. I will see about getting a blog post together of whats going on in the car shop for this weekend.
