Luke,
The 902 was the victim of a very serious fire that heavily damaged it, pretty much beyond the point of reasonable restoration or repair. So it was best suited as a parts donor, correct.
Luke, the CNW 411 is currently having some refurbishment done to the cab. Additionally some repairs and modifications to the HEP are needed. The HEP generator is used to power the HVAC and lighting on the bilevel cars. The BN 3's HEP set is working well, that is why you see the BN 3 powering the bilevel train this year.
I'm Curious as to what happen with WSOR 102. Last year it was on the Diesel Days lineup on July 12 2014 it said that the E9B unit would be at the museum. Did something happen to the lease to WSOR such as it being extended? I am just curious as to what happened to the last operational "true" E9B unit.
On page 26 of Trains magazine's November 2015 issue there is a photo of WSOR E9B 103, along with 2 E9As in an eastbound train. The attached story says WSOR parent WATCO sold the E9As to Iowa Pacific, and the E9B will operate for Iowa Pacific under a new lease from IRM. We will probably see it in Illinois Central colors soon.
