It would be neat to get it as it is a block from my work at CEVA Logistics and i pass it everyday on the way to work. Is someone going to promote it at the Chicago land CNWHS dinner on Nov 21, 2009 as this might help get funds to move it?

Hi Peter, Bob Kutella asked me to reply. There is interest within the CNWHS board to promote the preservation of this car. IRM's goal to acquire and restore the car could potentially be announced at the Chicagoland meet, in North Western Lines, and via our website. I think we're waiting to see how much interest there is at the IRM board level. We all understand there are many costs involved before restoration could even begin so it's not a quick decision. Thank you for the info, I too wondering the IRM Board thought about it. I haven't gone the IRM board in ages,(flashback) twenty two years or so, I used to do my homework during them at Checker's. While ago they (IRM)were trying a end loading auto boxcar on Davis st in Arlington Heights.

Good comment, Peter. It would seem to be a gathering that would be interested in preservation of CNW equipment. You can help to spread the word (and a donation pledge?) if you are going to the dinner. Bob Kutella

I was involved in the potential acquisition of the boxcar in Arlington Heights. We thought we had a deal struck with the owner, after having kept tabs on that car for 20 years. One day we went back and the car was GONE! Cut up for scrap and hauled away. My guess is that they did not want to be bothered with us, could not wait for approvals and funding on our end, and wanted it to go away. Bob Kutella
