What exactly is planned for this Main Street project? I just became an associate member this year and I don't recall seeing it mentioned in the issues of Rail & Wire that I've received.

The Main Street Project has been a vision of the future and included in our LONG RANGE plans for years. A very expensive and substantial undertaking which would include a new entry to the campus, visitor center, display building(s), period storefronts, and street trackage for trolleys. The infrastructure alone could cost over $1MM for paving, utilities, services, and drainage and would require a lengthy permitting process. The first steps are finally being taken with the move of the Schroeder store and our very old Sunoco gas station building could be moved and sited before next summer. In the plan, Central Avenue would be extended west from where it ends now. Of course, significant new funding would accelerate the development and could well affect the priorities, arrangement, and timing of any elements of the plan. Thanks for reading the various BLOG entries and postings. Bob Kutella

Speaking of the Sunoco station, where is it right now?

We had two similar stations and one has gone elsewhere for preservation. Ours is along Museum Drive waiting its turn for relocation along Main Street. All it takes is time and money, I am sure our Buildings and Grounds Department, under Dave Diamond, will appreciate any donations. Bob Kutella
