Why was the Burlington 9255 taken to National Railway Equipment Company on Wednesday?

It had the number 2 traction motor changed. We had bought a replacement last year, but never had a chance to replace it. This was a good opportunity to get it done, so we shipped out the replacement motor, and the loco met it there and the job was done.

Why was the CNW 411 brought to Rock Island? Was it strictly for display, or emergency power to be MU'd to the 9911A in case of catastrophic failure en route?

It was brought to Rock Island to be on display, it was one of the pieces of equipment that they requested. It was not running and was not planned on being used at all during the event.
