Thanks Jamie; It's so good to hear some news from the diesel dept. I check here a couple times a week looking for updates. Any news on any of the projects would be very welcome! Steve

Since you have plenty of 645 part laying around, why hasn't anybody worked on the ATSF FP45? Also, when will you cosmetically restore SP 1518? I think it would be nice to see an SP Black Window running out here in Illinois.

multiple questions concerning this department: 1. Operating stance on RDC9933? 2. will SP 1518 (Eventually) be repainted into its black widow theme or stay with the kind it has? 3. Since ATSF 92 has the Warbonnet and 841 is getting its yellow and blue, does that mean that 543 gets the Zebra Stripes? 4. when will painting start on Rock Island 1266 (CNW 4160)? 5. theoretically, is DLW 3001 powerful enough to haul the 3 DLW coaches, fully loaded? 6. any new locomotive additions planned for this year?

The RDC 9933 is part of the coach dept. collection, not the internal combustion dept.

1. The 9933 is still part of the diesel collection. The coach department maintains it as part of the Terror train and for some other fall events when the weather isn't too hot. Unless we get a lot of parts, engine, trans, drive shafts, etc., don't plan on seeing it move itself around any time soon. 2. SP1518 will stay painted in the scheme its in now, then no changes are needed to backdate it. 3. On the ATSF equipment, that sounds about right. And you can plan on seeing the 92 in kodochrome for some period of time. 4. There is no date set for 4160, not in the plans now. 5. For 3001, yes, is could, if it were operable. 6. Are they ever planned?

James, By chance will any work be done on 6930 DDA40X in the future where it will be able to run on its own? It would be sooo awesome to see her run again during Diesel Days. What is her actual condition right now? Dave

two engine's i had in mmd were the 2 D&H "SharkNose" Diesels currently in Michigan; a once in a lifetime chance.

Just keep doing what you do and focus on what you can! A clean shop is a tremendous effort that pays off.

I need to get in contact with someone from the Diesel Department about sound recordings of a particular locomotive that the IRM owns. I am willing to travel to record them, but i'm 700 miles away, so I would need to set up an appointment, or at least need to know when the locomotive is going to be in use before traveling that far.
