We were very lucky to have Kirk Warner back for a short visit from the South. Kirk is very good at taking pics which can sometimes be problematic for me while I am doing the work.
Victor Humphreys assists while Bob Kutella applies a transfer pattern to the A end of the car.
The next step is for me to trace the layout lines onto the car end, to be followed by taping and masking much of that.
Next is to get out the paint. In this case after the sun had moved enough to cool the area down from when it was in direct sun.
The number and end reporting marks are done on the A end. This completes all lettering on the A end. We will probably have to move the car a bit east to have enough room to set up scaffolding for the B end lettering.
Buzz Morisette touches up the newly applied MILW heralds.
And here is a shot of the south side with all lettering done there, the MILW herald, and only some minor paint work remaining.
Mike Alterio has been giving us a lot of help on this car which now is VERY CLOSE to be ready to sandblast and paint. Lat year the rails on this end ladder were replaced and now Mike has anchored those back in place.
Victor Humphreys and Mike ALterio heat part of the car sill angle for straightening. This is more or less cosmetic improvement to take out years of dents and bent flanges.
