The reason I have made a special effort in mentioning this topic is the fact that there are a number of women volunteering in the coach dept. We would like to have more! Ladies, IF you have often considered helping out but just did not know how your efforts and talents could be utilized; we in the coach dept would certainly be interested in your volunteerism. Already, we have four women working on various projects. I would like to name them and given them special "Thank You's" from the male members of the department. The four members contributing to the success of the dept this year are the following: Shelly Vanderschaegen, Pauline Talbert, Nancy Ring and Loraine Bixler. Nancy and Loraine have been volunteering their efforts in the RI 2612 all this year. Their contributions can not be understated for they are an intrinsic part of the team. Thanks to both of you for helping us "guys'.
If any of you ladies are interested in joining our team. Please contact the Passenger Coach Dept via the IRM office. Remember to keep sending those donations in for the new barn 14. We have not forgotten your interests in building it..... Thanks Roger
I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July. The crew working on 2612 was again very busy on this past Wednesday. Four members certainly got much accomplished. Our goal, as you well know, is to have this coach in reasonable shape to use in the Day Out w/ Thomas event and the Four Day Labor Day event. We are accomplishing much in our one work day a week. Just for those of you who forgot what the interior looked like when we first received it on our interchange; the last picture is that of our first efforts peeling off the carpeting on the walls. Please consider joining our growing crew. The next work session will be July 10. We meet either by barn 3 or by barn 11 where, currently, the 2612 is located.
If you are unable to join us why not send a donation to the RI 2612 project. That will help cover the costs of sandpaper, we use 80 grit, and spray red primer. Thanks Roger
Master upholster technician John Mckelvey is recreating a fabulous line of chairs for the observation end of our Lake City, our newest passenger car arrival.
The following two pictures are of the next chair in the process of being recovered and stained.
Would you be interested in helping John w/ this project? Please then, send a donation to the Lake City Fund. All monies used on this reupholster project are donated by interested members. The museum is not supporting this in any way. Helping John will make him smile even more.
Thank You Roger
