Yes, all seat frames are reinstalled on the one side!
Gary and I have been working, hard, these last three months to finally reach this goal. That milestone was reached on April 19th. Next, our attention switches to the other side of the coach where almost the exact same repairs will be made.  Missing some seat parts. They are in the process of being sandblasted and then repainted Now we are beginning to remove three rusty panels on the other side.  This area, directly across from where the old bar once stood, is now our focus.  Brian LaKemper, helping install one of the last seat frames  Brain Paterson blasting away! Gary Sherman suggested we buy a new tool. Soooo, we purchased a mini needlechipper. It's a lot lighter and can remove old piant in tight areas. Very useful!  Here I am, using our new mini needlechipper Your museum needs your help!!! How would you like to help place RI 2602 back in service? We need volunteers to begin the job of repairing the interior from the winters destruction. It's not to hard but it does take time. Thanks Roger Tuesday, April 29. 2014April 27th - Passenger Car Department UpdateBuzz Morisette spent a couple of days earlier in the week painting the underside of the clerestory windows in the Ely dining room.  Buzz has painted the underside of the clerestory windows in the Ely dining room  The green painters tape is protecting the mahogany  Another shot of the latest painting done in the Ely dining room Also earlier in the week, Jack Biesterfeld put up new menus in the Boston and Maine 1094 dining car and put out new "food" on display from the new menus.  One of the new menus Jack Biesterfeld created for the B&  The second menu created by Jack for B&  Shelly captured this shot of the new food display through the window of the 1094 On Sunday morning it was windy and by afternoon it was a biting wind! Very windy day. The weekend work started when Michael Baksic and Shelly Vanderschagen put up three light fixtures in a baggage car. Then the guys, Michael B., Michael McCraren, and Ray Mormann, continued brake tests on passenger cars.  Mike B laying down on the job! He actually read the manual for doing the air brake test on CNW 7700  The new air brake test date for CNW 7700  Ray Mormann cutting off a broken bracket that was holding the steam heat line on Lackawanna 651. It was repaired. Jim Windmeier and Kevin Kriebs removed the seats from a Lackawana coach which need to be reupholstered. Then Jim started cleaning the cars in Barn 3 and Kevin and Shelly went into the Rock Island cars to clean and put the ads back up. Lunch was in the Birmingham as usual. Bob Hunter and Kevin Brown joined Jim, Michael B., Michael M., Ray, and Shelly for a brief visit and repast. After lunch, Bob Hunter took Kevin and Shelly into the Dover Strait where they took measurements for new linoleum so Shelly can order it. Michael B. and Ray replaced the ceiling panel in the RDC which had previously been removed for repair. Then they installed parts in the Loch Sloy which had been in storage elsewhere. Mark Hoffman was working in the John McLoughlin and also scraping paint in the CRIP 2602. Mark Gellman is still caring for his mother. Best wishes - get well soon! After coming back from a vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I was amazed by the progress brought about by Gary Sherman. Thanks Gary! Wednesday, April 16th, found the two of us back at it. About 11:30 am Brian Lakemper arrived and decided to help us. What a nice surprise! After some introductions we put him to work disassembling some seat frames and helping Gary install screws into one of the newly installed wall panels.  Gary installed yet another panel. That makes three on the South side  The young fellow in the yellow shirt is Brian Lakemper from Peoria. We moved a few seat cushions around and tried out the newly repainted seat frames.  Gary and I smiling at our hard efforts  Its all about seat frames. In this case nickel seats After lunch our long awaited delivery of parts showed up. Here are the two new stairs contracted and built by R and B metal of Woodstock, Il Thanks John, Ken, and Joe of R and B. Also delivered were end pieces made to replace the rusted ones.
