Wednesday, May 21. 2008Behind the Scenes PHOTO John Nelligan, left, and Kirk Warner start the testing of cabooses prior to being released to the operating department. For this work these have been moved to Track 41 east of Barn 4 and we are able to run an air hose out and use our test equipment for brake functions.  PHOTO One of our required tests is to apply brakes and measure the travel of the brake cylinder. As brake shoes wear this piston travel increses every year, until an adjustment of the levers and linkage is required, or the shoes need to be replaced. Kirk Warner measures and the reading is OK!  PHOTO Victor Humphreys is checking the journal oil level on MILW 01984. The levels are topped off as needed. |
