Great Northern 70104 Three Bay Hopper

No, the project is not dead.  Just a question of too few hours and too little money.  But as of this date the needed structural repairs are virtually complete.  If someone is out there that is good with a torch, there are some 'cosmetic' items that could be re-bent or straightened.

End Ladder

A contract welder (Alehandro Ybarra) welds on an end ladder while I look forward to the next task.

Grinding

We were able to save some money by enlisting our volunteer help to serve as labor on the job.  Bruce Plaxton is grinding excess weld on a corner repair.

B End

The car suffered from decades of hard service.  Several of the frame members and end framing braces, ladder stiles were bent or broken - probably due to a customer trying to shove the car with an end loader.  Alex was really quite skilled at making something out of nothing, in this case taking a completely folded angle web and bringing it back.
