Friday, June 4. 2021Progress update of the Multi Purpose BuildingHere are some recent construction pictures of our Multi Purpose Building.  This is the front of our building where the concrete sidewalk is being poured.  Contractors at work.  Front railing being installed.  Interior wall installation.  Wallboard being installed in the model RR display room.  More installation of wallboard.  Milwaukee Road Historical Association portion.  Wallboard installed in the model RR area.  This huge area is where the Pullman Library archives will reside.  Wall area has been taped, sanded and ready for priming and painting.  First coating of wall primer has been applied.  Painting contractor working his trade. Please consider visiting your museum this year. Along with the many continuing restoration projects, our focus this past year involves creating more displays and giving the visitor a more educational and friendly experience. Monday, February 24. 2020A Synapasis of Building Construction, Multi Purpose Building UpdateHere are some pictures of the building construction which will house the model railroad display, Milwaukee Road Historical Association displays and the new home for the Pullman Library Archives. The museum should be very proud of this monumental construction project. Dave Diamond has done a marvelous job as general contractor scheduling the various companies to complete this building!  outside brick laying begins  Contractors can install brick but it must be heated in the area.  These contractors are installing the huge heating and a/c plants.  This is what it looks like from the inside as they are laying the brick and cement block.  Window framing is almost done. All the masonry work was being preformed a week either side of the Christmas holiday. The museum along with the with the help of two departments, track and buildings and grounds, has begun removing and demolishing the old bookstore site next to our station. This will, first of all, remove a long awaited eye sore and then open up the visual site lines for the trains at the station as well as traveling by it on our mainline. Here is a sequence of events and the results of each.
 Please notice that the work has already begun moving rail into position.  Here  are  The track crew poses for a smiley picture  photos  0f  the  moving of the various equipment. We are going to scrap this old CNW wood RPO baggage car built in 1898  Yes, ladies we do had a number of young ladies volunteering at Irm. This is Carnia who volunteers mainly in the steam dept. She is using a pneumatic spike puller to remove the old spikes.  Two of the bookstore cars already have been removed  The track crew moved part of the streetcar line over to temporarily connect to the storage tracks  Another view This time to rails are reconnected to the northern rails  The old CNW wood baggage-RPO being moved  View of the work area  Now the area is void of all bookstores cars  Next job is to scrap the remaining piece, the old ttx flat car.
