John Nelligan, Jim Griffth, and Steve Holding are busy in the woodshop. On the left is a reglazed and refinished window for the Sand Springs 68, which was installed shortly after the photo. On the right of the bench, Steve Holding applies the first coat of varnish to the newly made window for the Bessemer & Lake Erie 25 passenger car.
Jim Griffith is doing a long term woodshop project for our Strahorn Library. This involves stripping, repairing, and refinishing new (to us) shelving donated form a local high school library. This is a lot of work, and visitors to the Strahorn will see the first set he completed - installed and with books on them.
Here we see Frank Sirinek working on the locomotive from Iowa, the Charles City Western 300. Pete Galayda, off screen, is the project manager for this, and here he has called in expert help to make new cab window armrests. Behind Frank, resting against the wall, you will see two brand new doors for the IRR 205 trolley car, shining brightly in their new varnish. These doors are fabricated from mahogany, and an effort of the father and son team, Randall and Frank Hicks.
