Tuesday, February 2. 2016The Black Tie Event
Yes, after all these years IRM is finally having a BLACK TIE EVENT. You will need to dress in your best. Your best attire that is for working on the construction gang laying railroad ties that is. Its not April Fools Day but this is an actual event that is going to happen. You see, Irm has just purchased and received 1600 brand new ties to be used in construction of new rail storage track. Plans call for the completion of the last two tracks in yard 15 and the construction of about 1,000 feet for the future streetcar loop southern expansion.
 Here is the total, 1600 ties including switch ties  You dont see ties stacked three high in many museums  This picture could be from the tie yard of a major railroad BUT no this picture was taken at Irm next to the steam shop Quite impressive, yes?  Picture of the switch ties Sizes range from 16,15,14,13,12,and 10 foot lengths  Up close You can count the individual ties Come on out and count them all to make sure we got what we ordered! |

7009 number boards look good. Is there a way to turn a locomotive around at IRM? In case you ever had a mind to connect 7009 and 6847?
