Thursday, January 28. 2021Long Awaited Dover Strait Progress ReportI haven't blogged for some time regarding our restoration of the Dover Strait. In 2017, Mark Hoffmann and I began removing parts from the last two unpainted bedrooms, A and B. We stripped off the old paint, primed both walls and ceilings and then our work ceased. Other projects, instead, became more important to complete. Fast forward to 2019 when our part time employee, Sandi, restarted the restoration by again priming the walls and ceiling in preparation for painting the final coat of paint.  Here Sandi is beginning the process of priming, for the second time, the walls and ceiling in Bedroom B.  Walls and ceiling again primed, this time with grey primer.  Ceiling has just been painted.  Late September 2019, She begins the task of painting the walls.  This is the wall below the upper berth.  September 27, 2019 the ceiling and walls are now painted in Bedroom B.  Here is a shot of Bedroom C which was repainted about 10 years ago. This is what Bedrooms A and B will look like when we are all finished.  October 7, 2019 finds Sandi painting away on bedroom A.  Jessie is standing in the organized workshop in the Dovers lounge.
Due to the colder weather our restoration efforts ceased in late October 2019, and shifted to the interior of the John Mcloughlin. More about the "John" in a later blog. Fast forward to August 2020, and part 2 will begin. Thanks, Roger.
