Not too much good painting weather expected the remainder of the year, so, even though windy, we took the opportunity to get the first coat of finished orange on this car, the half side that was restored and ready for paint. Several remarked it looked a lot like the orange used on Michigan Electric 28.
Wayne Baksic from the coach department joined Victor Humphreys in this effort.
The steam department technically controls this car and here we see the curator for steam, Tom Schneider, coming over to check on the paint crew. Bob Kutella, Victor Humphreys, and Wayne Baksic are too busy with brushes to talk much.
Finally the brush work is done and a roller is being used to 'fill in' the stripes. Victor Humphreys does the honors while Wayne Baksic is still busy trimming with a brush. Why would any car builder choose v groove siding for a car? (Knowing the extra labor need to paint it.)
Frank Hicks is working on applying the finish coat of green paint to new trolley boards for the roof of Indiana Railroad 205. This is the car we got that last ran in Portland, OR and for which Frank is working on a cosmetic restoration as a display piece. Norm Krentel looks on.

Here is shot of Andy Sunderland welding safety treads on the deck of Milwaukee Electric L 7. Andy has been fussing with controller maintenance and this loco runs itself over to the Barn 4 shop area.
