The passenger Dept is getting ready for the RPO weekend coming this week. Sunday Nick, Marc and Shelly spent the biggest chunk of day washing the car, getting most of the graffiti off. Marc has done a great job with touchup paint, and he is really having a good time with the event. As with many events we begin, it has become bigger and bigger every year.
On the other fronts, we have made progress on the stair repair to the DLW coach with the owie, and Mike hopes to have it out for brake testing and service this weekend.
Roger has been steadily making progress on paint removal on the vestibule of the John McGlothan.
The electrical feeder to the Dover Strait is moving along.
Streamliner sleeper set will be open for display both days this weekend, and I hope to get a good set of photos of the events for the website.
Everyone come on out and have a good time this week!
As many of you may have heard we recently suffered a traction motor failure on this car and that has sidelined it from service. And this car has been a real work horse and much needed to handle riders in our summer operating season.
Frank Sirinek, Kirk Warner, and Dick Cubbage check clearances under the platform as the car is jacked up to allow the motor truck to be rolled out. This is a tricky operation, and of course motor cables, brake rigging, and a lot of other prep work must be done before this stage is reached.
The truck is out and there looks to be a lot of finger pointing going on. Several members rose to the occasion and dropped their projects to assist in this. Needless to say the motor was removed and readied for shipment at the end of the day, with no mishaps and the truck restored back under the carbody. GOOD WORK!
