Sunday, May 23. 2010North Shore 749 Update - May 22, 2010 Watching Paint Dry Maybe even less dynamic than listening to grass grow. As we were on the way to another job we noticed that Buzz Morisette was beginning to apply the lettering to the 749. I asked Victor Humphreys to get into the image to provide some scale and 'human interest'. Here, the layout is done the backing removed, and the letter carrier is positioned on the car side. The halogen lamp provides some heat in the morning damp to help dry the process.  Application Buzz is seen here applying and positioning the carrier for a set of numbers on the end.  The Result Back to the first picture - after several hours in place it was time to peel back the carrier to see the results! Sunday, February 21. 2010North Shore Line 749 Progress 749 after painting. While it has been a few months since the last update for the 749, most of the exterior restoration work has been completed for a few weeks. The final coats of paint have been applied, along with the majority of the detail work, all the doors, and much more. The heralds were applied by Buzz on Saturday the 20th. The numbers still need to be completed and applied. 749's inspections have been started as well. Over the next week or two, the 749 should be removed from the Diesel/Paint shop to make room for another CA&E car. Additional photos are available in the 749's restoration gallery. Tuesday, December 15. 2009North Shore Line 749 Painting Progress NSL 749 with fresh green paint The progress on the 749 restoration continues as the red and green paint is now finished. The visible underbody components have been painted and another coat of black has been applied to the roof. There is still a lot of detail work to be completed. Some photos have been uploaded to the 749 restoration gallery. Over the next few days we will post more details of the progress and some better photos with the masking removed. |

7009 number boards look good. Is there a way to turn a locomotive around at IRM? In case you ever had a mind to connect 7009 and 6847?
