Friday, August 21. 2015The Dover Stairt in the sunlight
You haven't seen the Dover Strait outside for a long time! That's about to change. Last week we moved it outside along with the L&N 2726 to do an inspection to determine the status of its air brake system. Paul and I found an air leak inside the Pullman and will repair it as soon as time permits We would like to run it for either Labor day weekend and/or railfan weekend. It and the 2726 will make a good looking consist.

Wednesday, the barn really started to look like we mean business! It sure is impressive to see all the trusses being installed! There have been a few posts on RYPN.org referring to this construction. From my vantage point no other non profit rr museum has ever built two 512x62 barns at once! This is a premiere event and all you readers should take a drive to Irm and view this construction. It truly is magnificence construction site!

It truly is awe inspiring!  This picture show the assemble process. As soon as the truss is in place those two machine platforms are lifted into place to secure the truss to the wall. Here are more pictures of the building barn 13 progress. It was Tuesday, August 18th, and quite a productive day! Beautiful weather and knowledgeable crew as you can see.
 With this machine the crew installs a 40ft section into place  The entire length of one wall is assembled  The following series of four pics detail the how the sections are installed  raising the wall  [PHOTO]  [PHOTO]  Each truss is 62 feet long. This is how they unload it  The heavy bundle is just slid off with rollers Pretty slick!  An up close look how aech column is slid into the H bracket  A crew member then comes along w/ a huge drill and bores two holes and inserts two connecting rods  The second wall is almost completed  Both walls are installed ready for tomorrows installation of the roof trusses |
