Sunday, September 17. 2017Painting the Yellow Stripe on the 3345
This last Tues and Wed saw the final step in the painting process on the IC 3345. Howard, with my assist, applied the yellow yellow stripe to this side of the 3345. We had a very small but productive crew, Tuesday. It seems like a few of the steam department volunteers have also been enjoying helping the coach department. This was the case Tuesday when Matt Gustafson decided to help us. He is a very energetic young man who jumped right in and began sanding the other side of the coach in preparation for the final coat of brown. Thanks for all your help, Matt. Hope to see this coming Tuesday.
 Our ace number one spray painter Howard, is applying the second coat of yellow on the middle stripe.  Howard poses with Matt Gustafson.  Howard again now spraying the lower stripe  Another view  Here Matt is scuffing the brown surface. He sanded this sides entire surface in one afternoon. This was Tuesday, September, 12, 2017.  While Matt was sanding the other side Howard was still painting the 3rd coat on the stripe.  Wed the 13th Curt was busy masking off the windows on the second side.  We carefully pulled off all the masking tape and paper to reveal our results. Boy have we gotten the compliments. It looks like it has just come out of the IC paint shop.  Sandi was also here on this last Wednesday and was touching up a few spots.  Not to be out done. We dont let any grass grow under our feet. Howard began applying brown to the other side of the coach. Here are more action shots of the painting of the IC 3345. All these pictures were taken last week! As I have said its taken a long time but the results are well worth the wait. Be sure and stop by barn 10 in the next couple of weeks to view our progress on freight and passenger cars.
 Here Paul Cronin is sandblasting a battery box cover for the 3345.  This is the first coat of orange  This is from the vestibule end of the coach. We had to moved the 3345 out of barn 10 and reposition it so that's it better light for painting. Now its in eastern half front of the barn and you can get a better view of her.
 We jist started pulling the coach out of the barn. Its tied on to the 2524.  The orange is freshly painted  Its a coming out of the barn party.  Its was a little windy and of course the plastic started pealing off.  Remember this is what the car was like before we painted it. This is the other side!  Thats Paul Cronin riding in the vestibule.
